Donna L. Maney, PhD

I am a neuroscientist at Emory University, interested in how claims about sex differences are generated, interpreted, and become embedded in policy and practice.

In my lab, we ask questions such as:

• What does it mean to say that females and males “differ?”
• What counts as evidence for a sex difference?

• How often are claims of sex differences supported by data?

• When is “sex” the right variable? What is it a proxy for?
